10.15-11AM sat 5 sep

A 45 minute workshop for parent/carer with children aged 4 and under. The workshop will be a fun exploration of the life of a butterfly with reflections on the journey that a butterfly makes to become beautiful in His time. The session will be a combination of movement exploration and shadow play with plenty of opportunity for adults and children respond to new ideas, create, move and play together.

NOTE: The sessions are designed for children who are walking but everything we do can be adapted by the parent/carer for younger children

11-12pm sat 5 sep

A 1 hour workshop for families - parent/carer with children aged 5 - 11 years. The workshop will use movement, shadow puppetry and storytelling, to explore the transformation of a butterfly through each stage of its journey before it finally emerges, beautiful in His time, as it takes flight.

Workshop 3:
‘Time for Everything’ with Paul Hobbs
10.15-12pm sat 5 sep

We will make drawings made from an arrangement of clocks, watches and leaves. These can be still life drawings, or composite overlapping images with the use of simple colour. We aim to create an interplay of shapes relating to time, growth and decay.

Workshop 4:
wild flowers
still life Workshop,
with AlAstair gordon
2-3.30pm sat 5 sep

When Jesus encouraged his followers to consider the lilies, there was nothing sentimental about the wildflowers of Galilee. His words echo those of Ecclesiastes, that our lives, like the wild flowers, are here today and gone tomorrow. This workshop invites you to see nature through drawing. Working from still life flowers, we’ll be making quick observational drawing and paintings, each project designed to emphasise the temporary in nature, drawing and even ourselves. All abilities and experience welcome. Expect ink, charcoal, observational drawing… and mess, almost certainly.

workshop 5:
“The flowers fade”
Still life embroidery workshop,
with Jane Taylor-Weekes
2-3.30pm sat 5 sep

Looking at a single flower or piece of fruit as source for inspiration, we will sketch a simple outline, transfer this onto fabric and then using basic embroidery techniques create an embroidered image.

All materials will be provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own fabrics (eg. Item of clothing, bag etc) if there is something specific they would like to embroider.
